Finance Officer

We’re looking for an early-career finance professional to join our business administration team, leading bookkeeping and payroll under a Financial Controller.

You’ll collaborate to design and manage workflows and processes across invoicing, bookkeeping and accounting; while being hands-on in reconciliation, accounts payable and payroll.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years of experience in the industry and working with Xero, as well as excellent analytical skills.

We’re looking for someone who wants to be part of the growth of our business, drive best practices and aiming for clean and accessible finance across the organisation.

This is a full time role, onboarded by the incumbent Bookkeeper and reporting to an incoming Financial Controller, with support from the business Partners.

THE ROLE

Key Responsibilities

  • Build on the existing invoice workflow to aim for precision and speed in raising client retainer invoices.
  • Audit historic and timesheets to monitor for missed spend and activity.
  • Manage client prebills, credit notes and invoice queries, liaising with relevant teams.
  • Work with the Business Analyst to create business and team reports to visualise team and client margin, utilisation, and service and client growth.
  • Work with the external Accountant to prepare IAS and BAS submissions.
  • Prepare monthly financials – P&L, Balance Sheet and Cashflow.
  • Prepare and report on budget tracking.
  • Management of accounts payable and the collection of accounts receivable.
  • Payroll tax and superannuation management.
  • Bank and account reconciliations.
  • Define and manage bookkeeping workflows and processes. 
  • Improve expense categorisation and analysis. 
  • Manage fortnightly payroll, leave and any staff salary queries.

You will have proven 2+ years of experience in a similar role and looking to further develop your career in finance.

  • Effective project management, high attention to detail and an independent, ambitious approach to tasks.
  • An exceptional grasp on strategic thinking, problem solving and process.
  • Strong platform skills in Xero and Excel/Google Sheets, or similar.
  • Confidence in data analysis and forecasting.
  • Ability to conceptualise and manage new processes, gaining stakeholder support and adoption.
PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENT

The performance of the Finance Officer will be determined based on their ability to:

  • Precisely manage receivables and utilisation reporting, creating strong transparency and consistency in margin.
  • Identifying opportunities and risks in billables, utilisation and expenses.
  • Independently solve business problems and processes.
  • Become a trusted partner to the business and senior leaders.
